Lumega-Z contains Lutein, Zeaxanthin and Mesozeaxanthin, which make up the macular pigment, as well as 35 other ingredients to support your eye health.  We also include a supply of Omega Boost Omega 3 soft gels.

Your doctor has determined that you have a depleted macular pigment, or that you are at risk for certain eye disease. The formulation of Lumega-Z is made specifically to address your condition, and includes the necessary ingredients as a Medical Food to replenish and restore your macular pigment.

Lumega-Z is in liquid form to make the ingredients more easily absorbed by your body.  A liquid is also much easier to swallow that tablets.

As Lumega-Z is a concentrate, shake the bottle well before using.  Take each dose by mixing with 1-2 oz of water or juice (cranberry or apple juice are favorites), or your favorite beverage or smoothie.

Once opened, refrigeration is required, and the contents should be consumed within 30 days.  Until opened, Lumega-Z can be stored at room temperature.

If you can, take an unopened bottle with you for the journey when you travel.  Once opened, refrigeration is recommended, but the contents will keep for up to 7 days without refrigeration.

There are no known side effects and Lumega-Z has no sugar, yeast, gluten, or dairy.  Lumega-Z is a highly absorbable, fast acting liquid and quickly delivers nutrients to the blood stream.

Because it is concentrated, Lumega-Z should be diluted when taken.  We recommend taking it with a meal if you have a sensitive stomach.

In many cases, Lumega-Z can replace multivitamins you may be currently taking.  Lumega-Z contains a full complement of vitamins and antioxidants, and total dosing is an important factor to consider.  You should seek the advice of your doctor before stopping any medications or supplements you are currently taking.

You do not need to combine doses to catch up if you miss a dose.  Take your regular dose as soon as you remember, and continue with your normal dosing.

Lumega-Z is a medical food.  Per FDA regulations, medical foods must be administered under the supervision of your healthcare provider, and monitored over time.  Your healthcare provider determines if the medical food is suitable for your condition.

Your doctor has been given a unique Doctor Authorization Code (DAC) number, in order for you to be able to obtain Lumega-Z under their supervision.  The DAC allows for a record of which doctor is providing Lumega-Z to which patient, as per the medical food requirements of FDA.

As Lumega-Z is required to be provided under the supervision of a healthcare professional, we are unable to provide you with the product unless you are currently being managed for a specific ocular disease or condition.  If you think you need Lumega-Z, please contact us directly and we can advise you on working with your doctor.

Lumega-Z is not recommended for children.

The medical food category is regulated by FDA, and products in this category must meet specific criteria (See “Draft Guidance for Industry: Frequently Asked Questions About Medical Foods; Second Edition” at www.fda.gov for more information).

Medical foods are precisely formulated to treat or manage a specific disease or condition.  As a medical food, Lumega-Z may be purchased using a Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA).  The cost of Lumega-Z is tax-deductible as a medical expense, and depending on your insurance provider, may also be reimbursable.

A Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) is a special account you put money into that you use to pay for certain out-of-pocket health care costs.  You don’t pay taxes on this money.  This means you’ll save an amount equal to the taxes you would have paid on the money you set aside.  Employers may make contributions to your FSA, but aren’t required to.  For details about your company’s FSA, including how to sign up, ask your employer.

Each insurance company has its own rules regarding medical foods.  You may be able to get reimbursed for Lumega-Z depending on your provider.  You may be required to provide a Letter of Medical Necessity signed by your doctor.

Lumega-Z contains Lutein, Zeaxanthin and Mesozeaxanthin, as well as over 35 additional vitamins, antioxidants and micronutrients formulated specifically to restore the macular pigment and support ocular health.  Adding the Omega Boost Omega 3s provides further value, and in many cases, you will not need to take any other supplements.
